Graphic Girls

Boxset, book and postcards

This was a project close to my heart at the start of my graphic design journey. I was conscious I wanted to find and create a focus on female role models as I entered the world of visual communication. Obviously through my life there have been many women creatrix that have deeply inspired me across many disciplines, but this felt important as something to platform: the unsung heroines of graphic design.

I chose to create a book illustrated with collage that I used a photocopier to create imagery to play with. Each designer’s image was reproduced as a sort of original portrait and I then teamed those with quotes I deemed inspirational.

There are many wonder women of graphic design, for this project I chose Ruth Ansell, Candy Chang, Carolyn Davidson, Cipe Pineles, Laura Pol, Paula Scher, Astrid Stavo and Jessica Walsh - thank you Queens.
